Service counters in the "Bird's Nest" are painted red, a traditional Chinese color.

On April 18, the National Stadium, the main venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, opened up its doors to the public for the first time. Underneath the gray steel exterior, the stadium, nicknamed the "Bird's Nest," is full of Chinese flavor, with the color red emphasized everywhere.
