The effect picture of the subway elevator pavilion(BEIJING, March 11) -- People with a disability will now be able to access the underground metro entrance using an aboveground elevator at each subway station of Line 10. The subway elevator will be put to use for the first time in the Beijing Subway system with the launch of Line 10 in June, reported the Beijing Daily. The elevator pavilion of each station is built near one of the surface entrances, and the design of the elevator is convenient for wheelchair users, said Liu Hong, chief architect of the Line 10 (phase I) entrance. After their tickets have been checked, passengers can take the elevator to the platform and get on the barrier-free trains. The elevator will also accommodate female passengers with children and travelers with large-sized baggage. The elevator buttons also have Braille for visually impaired or blind people, and the subway staff will readily assist passengers with the elevator.
