(March 17, 2008) -- After several intense rounds of expert assessment, one model stood out in the minds of judges trying to decide on a representative sculpture for the Qingdao portion of the Olympic Games. According to Qingdao Daily, from the 70 works that were studied, the "Lianjie Aoyun" (Connecting the Olympics) sculpture was selected to represent the sailing city's part of the international event to take place in August.

The "Lianjie Aoyun" sculpture is formed by two connecting rings, representing Qingdao's interaction with the rest of the world and putting into visual format the "One World, One Dream" philosophy. Experts agree that the themed sculpture is not only an important artistic part of the Qingdao International Marina; it is also a symbol of the city's cultural landscape and a valuable element of Olympic heritage.

The sculpture elegantly and beautifully reflects both the ideas of Olympics and sailing. This ambitious project with its far-reaching content embodies artistic themes of form and scale, influencing and impacting all who lay their eyes upon it.
