(BEIJING, March 4) -- Qiansanmen Avenue is being transformed. As the city's first model street representing Beijing's public transportation planning services, by the end of April, the important historic road will showcase its new face to the world, at which time, around 55% of road would have been upgraded.

The transformation process will involve the improvement of waste bins, traffic guardrails, street signs, pedestrian signs, public bus facilities, mailboxes, public telephone booths, information booths, bicycle parking racks, public seats, portable toilets, and newspaper stands. The entire area will maintain a distinctly Chinese character, with traditional red and grey colors evident in the surrounding architecture.
