(BEIJING, February 27) -- The Southern Expressway of the Beijing Capital International Airport will be put into use on February 29, when the third terminal of the airport (T3) will be launched. Motor vehicles on the expressway can directly access the terminal through Exit No. 6 at Wenyu Bridge, the Beijing Evening News quoted the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission as saying. The commission said the first phase of the expressway in use will include the section between Wenyu Bridge and Guantou Bridge, with eight lanes in two directions. The toll will be equal to the current Airport Expressway toll. Vehicles coming from the north can choose the northern part of the Airport Expressway and the airport terminal connection line to get to T3. Passengers taking the airport bus and taxi services can reach T3 directly. Connection lines have been built from T3 to T1 and T2, and Automated Passenger Movers will operate on the routes to meet passenger transfers and other demands. There are three projects under way to facilitate access to T3: the second Airport Expressway; the next phase of the Southern Expressway; and the high-speed rail facility. They are expected to be completed before the Olympic Games.
