(Photo credit: Getty Image) (BEIJING, January 28) -- The clipper fleet of the 2007-2008 Clipper Round the World Yacht set out from Keppel Bay of Singapore and began Race Six to Qingdao on January 27, 2008. The fleet will arrive in Qingdao around February 15, 2008. The Starting Ceremony was held at 2:10 pm on January 27, 2008. In the hot breeze, Glosgow crossed the starting line first, and Qingdao set out in the third position. The race course between Singapore and Qingdao is 2,600 miles, and the fleet is expected to take 19 days to reach the finish line. For all the sailors of Race Six, the coldness of the North that is waiting them after leaving warm Southeast Asia is a great challenge. The ten sailing boats of the 2007-2008 Clipper Round the World Yacht arrived in Singapore on January 19, 2008. Before that, the fleet set out from Liverpool of Britain, La Rochelle of France, Salvador of Brazil, Durban of South Africa and Fremantle of Australia. On the scoreboard, the Durban Clipper ranked first with 33 scores. Hull Clipper and Humber Clipper ranked second and third. Qingdao ranked in the eighth place. The 2007-2008 Clipper Round the World Yacht has ten teams representing ten countries and regions: New York (the U.S.A.), Nova Scotia (Canada), Jamaica (Jamaica), Qingdao (China), West Australia (Australia), Hull (England), Humber (England), Liverpool (England), Glasgow (Scotland), Unique Singapore (Singapore) and Durban (South Africa). The 10 sailing boats will cover 35,000 sea miles within 10 months.
