(BEJING, March 26) -- China was held to a 0-0 goalless home draw by the Australian Socceroos in Kunming during its second Group A match of the World Cup Asian qualifiers on Wednesday.

Midfielder Shao Jiayi, from the German club team Energie Cottbus, squandered a penalty kick earned by teammate Qu Bo in the 88th minute. His kick went directly into the hands of Australia's goal keeper Mark Schwarzer.

Australia stands at the top of the rankings in the group with four points in hand. China slipped to third after Qatar pocketed a 2-0 home win against Iraq, who was (and still is) at the bottom with one point.
