(BEIJING, March 3) -- In a huge blow to the country's Olympic gold medal prospect in the 4X100m relay, Australian triple Olympic gold medalist Jodie Henry announced that she will miss the Beijing Games due to an illness that is causing her severe abdominal pain.

Henry had been reported to have an imbalance in the muscle group around her pelvis, which was causing her severe pain during swimming.

"I won't retire from the sport because I don't expect that I quit in this way," she said, adding she is still able to swim.

Henry, 24, has been a declining force in sprint events since her stunning performances in Athens, where she won the 100m freestyle gold medal and anchored Australia to victory in the 4x100m and 4x100m medley relays.
