DELRAY BEACH, Florida, Feb 14, 2008 - American top seed James Blake used his precision serve and timely break point chances to breeze past Chile's Paul Capdeville 6-1, 6-4 in a second round match of the Delray Beach Championships on Thursday.

Blake won 85 percent (11-of-13) of his first-serve points with a 68 percent serve percentage, denying the Chilean any break opportunities in a quick opening set.

The world's No. 12 player worked harder in the second set, saving seven of eight break chances against Capdeville.

Blake capitalized on both break chances of his own and served out the final game for the match.

With the only former champions in the tournament - Xavier Malisse and second-seeded Tommy Haas - out of the way after first-round defeats, Blake may be ready to make a second straight run at the title.

The 28-year-old, who is trying to build on a solid effort at the Australian Open, reached the finals and won the first set before dropping the last two to Malisse last year.

Blake, who is in search of his 11th singles title, will face Igor Kunitsyn in the quarter-final round Friday.

The Russian defeated Max Mirnyi of Belarus in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3

  earlier in the day.

Third-seed Sam Querry moved on with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, and will face sixth-seeded countryman Vincent Spadea, who defeated Gilles Muller of Luxembourg, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

The 20-year-old Querry held off 10 of 13 break opportunities for Garcia-Lopez, preventing the Spaniard from advancing to the quarter-final round of the tournament for the third straight year.
