| 'Heart' singing ensemble brings smiles to community residents |

(BEIJING, March 8) -- Former gymnastics world champ Yang Yun joined singers Bai Xue, Shi Peng, Di Ming and other members of the Olympic Volunteer "Heart" singing ensemble on Friday morning to bring smiles to some 200 people in the Chongwennei community. Composed of star singers and volunteers, the ensemble worked with Beijing Television Station and Beijing Radio, as well as community residents, to put together the morning's concert of charity songs.
The performers sang "Smile Beijing," "Shi Jie He Ping" and other songs for the residents. Artists from the community demonstrated paper-cutting, pinwheel-making and other traditional crafts to add to the festive atmosphere. In addition, the Fuwa quintuplets, who were recently named "Young Beijing Olympic Ambassadors," contributed to the fun with a wushu performance.
Established in June 2007, the Olympic Volunteer "Heart" singing ensemble is headed by renowned singer Emil Chau and boasts more than 40 star members and some 50 university and volunteer singers. Since forming, the ensemble has performed Olympic volunteer songs, spreading smiles and harmony at various colleges, communities, companies and charitable organizations.
The Chongwennei community is a part of Jianguomen Street, which has been named a "model unit for volunteerism" by a national volunteer association.
