(BEIJING, April 10) -- "Dongdong," the mascot for the Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteer cheerleading team and the cheerleaders' uniforms were unveiled here Thursday afternoon.

With its arms extended, the lion-like character Dongdong, an honorary member of the cheerleading team, is ready to embrace the people of the world. Dongdong's costume reflects unique Chinese elements with a representation of Taiji and cloud patterns.

The cheerleading uniforms are in the colors of the Chinese flag, with red symbolizing friendly reception and yellow symbolizing luck for victory.

During the Games, the cheerleading squad and Dongdong will lead spectators in cheering on and providing motivation for the athletes.
