Gizem Girismen: Sacred flame brings hope to world's people

(ISTANBUL, Turkey, April 3) -- A torchbearer confined to a wheelchair said that the sacred flame was a flame of hope for her and that becoming a torchbearer meant that her dream has come true.

Gizem Girismen, 26, gold medalist of the Cheongju 2007 IPC Archery World Championships in the Republic of Korea (ROK), is very excited about her participation in the Olympic torch relay.

In 1992, when she was only 11-years-old, she lost both of her legs in an accident.

Although Girismen is a woman with a disability, she has not let her suffering slow her down.
