Twelve students and teachers from various universities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region form the Xinjiang Olympic Cheerleading Squad. According to Chinanews.cn, their practice headquarters is the artistic gymnastics gymnasium of Xinjiang Normal University. These select few were picked from over 1,000 applicants in Xinjiang to be a part of the Olympic celebration. At present, the crew gets together for two or three hours of intense training a night to ready itself for the national Olympic cheerleading finals to be held in Beijing.
