BRASILIA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- In a year in which Jade Barbosa has appeared as the new young star for the Brazilian women's gymnastic team, on Monday, Daiane Santos reappeared as the champion veteran of the team. The gymnast fell out of the spotlight due to serious injury to her right foot. The injury kept her from competing in the Pan-American games and the World Championships of gymnastics. However, after having recuperated from an arthroscopic surgery, Daiane is ready to return to the mat. Close be being 100% pain free, the athlete has arrived to the team training in Curitiba, Parana. The athlete has also recuperated her optimism and her competitive spirit in relation to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Confident that the women's team will have a solid performance at the Olympics, Daiane also hopes that she, and Diego Hypolito for the men's team, will both receive individual medals at this year's competition. The 25- year- old Daiane is excited about her reentrance into the limelight. In relation to her training, she said, "I will be ready. Sometimes you have that feeling of knowing what needs to be done. I have been training since last year with Beijing as my focus. I have stopped feeling pain in my foot and look forward to giving it my all this year."
