(BEIJING, March 11) -- Four new Arctic Cat motorcycles to be used for firefighting in the Beijing Olympic Village were put to patrol duty on Tuesday.

The four-wheel drive vehicles, produced in Austria and purchased for 470,000 yuan each (about 66,200 US dollars), are the first of their kind in China. From now on, the four vehicles will be used in two separate units to patrol the central area of the Olympic venues, the Olympic Village and the Olympic Forest Park.

Each motorcycle can carry two to four people and is equipped with 100-liter high pressure, mixed fluid fire distinguishing materials and special rescue tools.
