(Beijing, March 28) -- Several hundred overseas Chinese in Greece wore red at the Ancient Olympia site on March 24 to witness the torch lighting ceremony, reported the People's Daily Overseas Edition, a newspaper based in Beijing. To see the ancient ritual take place in person was a magical feeling for many of them. Some shed tears when they heard the Chinese national anthem played. They cheered enthusiastically for BOCOG President Liu Qi's speech, and their excitement affected the locals, too. Together the Greeks and the Chinese cheered, "Beijing good luck!" Li Dale, head of the Chinese and Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Greece, said that since early March, he had been contacted by overseas Chinese about attending the torch lighting ceremony. Unable to experience the excitement in China, they hoped to lend their support in Greece. Li himself return to China to participate in the torch relay as a torchbearer in Wenzhou.
