(BEIJING, March 1) -- Around Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), renovations are in the works for over 300 rooms. During the Olympics, this site will serve as an international liaison department, providing multi-language services for Beijing's guests, according to Xinhua.

According to the overseas edition of the People's Daily, this service center will be staffed by volunteers from BFSU. During the Olympics and Paralympics, the center will be open 24 hours a day, with services offered in 44 languages to support international fans visiting the capital, providing "barrier-free" language services.

Even services in languages that are not spoken by large populations, such as Icelandic, Sinhalese, and Huasa will be provided. During the Games, if visitors have any issues needing language services, they can contact the service center by phone or through internet media networks. The center is capable also of performing simultaneous interpretation, and providing document translation services. If necessary, volunteers can rush to a scene if a situation calls for it.

Of the 3,745 volunteers recruited from 16 of the best universities in Beijing, 1,558 came from BSFU, accounting for 42% of the total number. Volunteers from BSFU also make up 81% of those that have offered services to the IOC.

The center is conveniently located along the city's third ring road. It will serve as a long-term community center, becoming an important heritage site of the Olympic Games.
