
(BEIJING, February 19) -- Chinese duo Qin Kai and Wang Feng did not let local enthusiasts down, won the first place with 454.65 points in their men's 3 m synchronized diving springboard preliminary round at the 16th FINA Diving World Cup. Divers from 22 countries and regions took part in the preliminary round, involving Russian 34-year-old diving czar Dmitry Sautin and Canadian prodigy Alexandre Despatie. The preliminary round included six rounds with two compulsory dives and four optional dives. Qin Kai and Wang Feng showcased their dominant form at the preliminary round, earning the first place from the very beginning to the end. The top 12 groups, including Chinese duo Qin Kai/Wang Feng, Russian duo Dmitry Sautin/Yuriy Kunakov, Ukrainian duo Dmytro Lysenko/Anton Zakharov, American duo Jevon Tarantino/Chris Colwill, German duo Andreas Wels/Tobias Schellenberg, Italian duo Marconi Nicola/Marconi Tommaso, Mexican duo Luis Huerta / Yahel Castillo, Cuban duo Jorge Betancourt/Erick Fornaris, Canadian duo Alexandre Despatie/Arturo Miranda, Malaysian duo Rosharissham Roslan/Yeoh Ken Nee, British duo Ben Swain and Nick Robinson-Baker, Australian duo Scott Robertson/Robert Newbery have qualified for the final of the men's 3 m synchronized diving springboard.
