(BEIJING, February 19) -- Chinese duo Qin Kai and Wang Feng are favored to claim the gold at the 16th FINA Diving World Cup men's 3 m synchronized diving springboard while Russian 34-year-old diving czar Dmitry Sautin and his 18-year-old partner Yuriy Kunakov will do their utmost to qualify for the Beijing Olympic Games. Dmitry Sautin will not compete in the men's 3 m individual diving springboard in an effort to help Russia book a ticket to Beijing. The 2007 FINA World Championships title holders, Qin Kai and Wang Feng are viewed as the favorites to grab the gold medal at the World Cup. Qin Kai, 21, is well known for his consistent performance while Wang Feng, 29, has accumulated a great deal of experience in the past years. Canadian duo Alexandre Despatie and Arturo Miranda, who were runner-ups at the 2007 FINA World Championships, will try to take a revenge over the Chinese duo at the World Cup. German pair Andreas Wels and Tobias Schellenberg, the 2004 Athens Olympic Games silver medalists, are likely to make a big bang at the World Cup.
