BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Organizers of the Beijing Olympics said on Wednesday that preparations for the August games were going smoothly. "China has made a huge effort to host a distinguished games," Yuan Bin, marketing director for the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG), told a press conference. Hollywood director Steven Spielberg announced last week that hew as quitting his role as an artistic advisor to the Beijing Olympics, citing concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. Yuan said as a responsible country China was doing a lot toward solution of the Darfur issue. None of the sponsors have withdrawn their contributions to the games, the official said, adding the sponsors identify with the Olympic spirit and will continue to support the games.
